“We had the best bus service in the world. You just jumped on the Big Blue Bird bus. They needed it, because we were so remote out here. In a way we still are.”

Bruce Geddes and his wife Stephanie belong to the first generation of UTSC alumni. He graduated in 1968 from Scarborough College, as it was called at the time. Bruce studied French at the graduate level at UofT's St. George campus and went on to become a teacher and school principal with the Scarborough Board of Education. Bruce recounts his first impressions of the campus after it opened in the mid-60's and describes what student and academic life was like at the time.


It was a phenomenal opportunity to learn about your country


I got a scholarship from Scarborough. And it covered everything
