“Growing up in Scarborough I was so used to such an eclectic mix of people and such diversity that coming here wasn’t a culture shock at all.”

Michelle Stinson grew up in Scarborough and attended York University before coming to UTSC in 2011. She says it felt like she was working just to pay for bus fare before she transferred to UTSC. Transferring to UTSC, she says, was coming home. Michelle attended UTSC from 2011-2015 studying Sociology and Womens’ and Gender Studies. 


People think the hard sciences are the only legitimate disciplines
