“So I went to the professor and I knocked on the door. …[He] didn't even look, didn't listen to my question, and he said 'you need to go back and be a waitress.'”
Born in East Africa, Wanda Restivo moved to the U.S. as a young child and eventually settled in Scarborough with her family in 1968. She recalls how the campus was part of her community, playing tennis as a teenager in the valley. She became a student at UTSC, specializing in Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry, graduating in 1982. She is now an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences, and an award-winning teacher.
